The Belle Game
The Belle Game was formed in July of 2009 by locally established artist Adam Nanji and his fellow musicians Andrea Lo and Alex Andrew.
Adam had released a studio EP the previous September. When he was asked to play a show at a venue in Vancouver, he asked Andrea and Alex to join him onstage as his back-up band, but as the trio realized during their first day of practice, this line-up would evolve into something so much more than a solo act. The three of them decided that they would head into the studio only a month after becoming a band, and they proceeded to record a 4-song EP entitled “Inventing Letters”. They released the EP on November 10th, 2009, and it can be purchased by clicking here! They quickly gained notice in Vancouver with the release of this EP while playing venues all over downtown.
Since the summer of 2009, the band has been split up between Vancouver and Montreal because of post-secondary education locations. However, they have persevered through the difficulties of their bi-coastal communication, and they have managed to uphold their status as a reputable band in both cities.
The Belle Game has played a variety of venues, from Cafe Deux Soleils and the Media Club in Vancouver, B.C. to the Casa Del Popolo and Le Divan Orange in Montreal, Q.C. to the Living Room in New York. Now splitting their time between Vancouver and Montreal, they are constantly looking for new places to play and people to meet. As of right now, the Belle Game is playing shows and looking forward to the day when they have enough funding to create a full-length album.

“Inventing Letters is a hot cup of tea, twinkle lights, a bear hug, fresh baked bread and snow falling when the sun is out.”
– Venus Toshiba (The Aural Kinetic)
“Shoulders & Turns”—the first song off their first EP, Inventing Letters—is richly saturated with overlapping male and female vocals and performed with a deft balance of sounds both big and small.”
