The Maladies

A fairly new ensemble of East Van ladies

I recently saw The Maladies at Café Amici on Commercial Drive.  Consisting of Chelsea D. E. Johnson , Jillian Christmas, Lexy-Marie, and Lynn-Marie, The Maladies are the cure for what ails you.  A mix of folk, blues, blue grass and spoken word poetry the group brought the house down at Café Amici.  While the café is a smaller venue for poets and small groups, The Maladies were able to stuff themselves into the corner and perform two wonderful sets that had the café dancing, clapping and smiling.

A fairly new ensemble of  East Van ladies, along with Jillian Christmas who came out West from Toronto.   The group has a firm grip on the community and a strong presence on the East side of the city.

Currently on a small tour of the west coast of Canada, The Maladies are sure to return with even more heartfelt lyrics and soulful rhythms.  Check them out if you get the chance.

I got to check out these talented ladies on Wednesday night and I so want to get a hold of them regarding a gig!  However, I tried and tried on-line and could not find any contact info for them.  Do you know of any way to get a hold of them?  Thanks!

I saw them at The Waldorf as part of The Echo Chamber and they were A REVELATION. So touched. So entertained. I want to see them again as soon as possible!  Awesome new band. Love the mix of spoken word and straight up music. The Bass player is sick!
