The venue is licensed as a retail art gallery so according to their activities don`t comply with the license. The City is worried about safety , but the volunteers of The Gallery said that there is no license in the city for places like this one because they are a hub for all arts. You may see WFS as just another acoustic folk rock band. But what if it could be something more? Something borne of hardship, friendship and a little faith. Something to push you through the hard days, through the 9-5, and well… to keep you sane in today’s world. What if these songs could bring you closer to a raw human experience, to a connection that is becoming increasingly rare in a culture driven by faceless communication?

Said The Whale formed in 2007 as a collaboration between songwriters Ben Worcester and Tyler Bancroft. The pair’s debut EP, Taking Abalonia, featured sunny west coast indie pop, with breezy harmonies, shimmering guitars, and lyrical tributes to their home city of Vancouver. In 2008, the album was rereleased as Howe Sounds/Talking Abalonia, featuring seven additional tracks that stretched the band’s stylistic palate to include bubblegum folk (“The Light Is You”), thundering hard rock (“Last Tree Standing”) and gentle ukulele ballads (“The Real of It”). After several personnel changes, the group settled upon a five-piece lineup that includes bassist Peter Carruthers, drummer Spencer Schoening, and keyboardist Jaycelyn Brown.

Christina Maria has spent much of 2009 traveling between cities, playing shows and living without a fixed address. This experience inspired the Vancouver-born singer-songwriter to craft her most focused set of songs yet, which appear on the new album Straight Line.
The seven-song collection is the follow-up to last year’s Stars & Satellites, but unlike the wry, observational style of her previous work, Straight Line turns the focus inward. Each song finds her at her most emotional and introspective, from empathetic character portraits to reflections on her own relationships.

Sara Kamin’s powerful voice has been compared to incredible female artists like Jann Arden, Patty Griffin, Adele, India.Arie and Bessie Smith. A regular performer both in Canada and the UK, Kamin has shared the stage with Molly Johnson, Murray McLauchlan, Rik Emmett, Jason Collett, Jeffery Straker, Jill Barber, Jonatha Brooke, Melissa Ferrick and Ember Swift. According to acclaimed Canadian artist Ron Sexsmith, Kamin “has a very natural way with a song and a voice that is lovely and pure.”

It all began with acoustic guitars, two voices and a Vancouver beach. In 2007, Paul and Lisa Jarvis started writing songs together as a mellow release from their hard rock bands. By the time those bands called it quits, the duo had enough material for the first Mojave album, Stories. The Mojave sound takes Paul and Lisa’s hard rock roots and winds in a quieter intensity. Lisa’s clear vocals soar over delicate acoustic guitars, viola, violin, and eclectic percussion – weaving melodies, telling stories.
