Azimyth

Influenced by their own music-minded families and the sounds of rock pioneers like Black Sabbath, Nirvana, The Sex Pistols and Nine Inch Nails, three high school students joined forces in 2002 and were inspired to create a raw rock ‘n’ roll sound – ripe with analog flavour, shredding guitar solos, mindful lyrics, constant energy flow, and unwavering musical honesty.

A decade later, Corey Allan Hawkins, Arlen Chudley, Rory Chudley – and newcomer Andy Laissue – are Azimyth, a band that bleeds rock ‘n’ roll and has worked alongside industry vets Steve Albini and Tom Baker, and played to sold-out Vancouver audiences. Azimyth’s self-titled debut album is the realization of its niche sound and validation of its self-directed philosophy.

Snailhouse

As with Snailhouse’s last record “Lies on the Prize,” Jeremy Gara (of Arcade Fire) takes a mixing and co-production role!
Snailhouse is the brainchild of Montreal based artist Mike Feuerstack. Gently knocking on the door of success for over 15 years now, Feuerstacks’ songs are timeless; instantly true and recognizable before they’ve even hit the chorus. The kind of artist that is always subtlety complex and beautifully memorable. Clever wit matched with an honest delivery.
Over the course of 5 albums …

Places With Faces

Places With Faces ride with the currents, molding an adventurous path of discovery for the greater good. Their free-spirited music is inspired by Vancouver and the ocean, touching on ideas of truth, freedom and the vulnerability of life and love. Brought together by a string of fate, what was once an idea has now transformed into a full movement that portrays elements of beauty in their purest form.

Olenka and the Autumn Lovers

Olenka Krakus is Polish but has Vancouver ties, having lived and played here for a long time she left a lot of friends here. She was born in Poland but grew up in Canada. Now she resides in London Ontario but she played the Biltmore on a visit to Vancouver with a stellar line up that included members of Aunts and Uncles and Like Animals Again who also played the show. Olenka and the Autumn Lovers formed in early 2008. has a sound that mingles a strong Eastern European influence with elements of North American country and folk music. The band’s diverse instruments (cello, violin, accordion, trumpet, saxophone, lap steel, mandolin and glockenspiel) provide a unique musical backdrop to Olenka’s sophisticated, often narrative, form of songwriting. Influenced by her memories of Communist Poland and by the country’s folklore, Olenka investigates themes of social injustice and personal responsibility, populating her songs with melancholy outcasts from both Polish and Canadian landscapes.

Year of the Rat

This is where you expect to find a bunch of bullshit about who we are, how we formed, what our influences are, right?

I respect you too much to tell you about that sort of minutiae. It’s a not-so-interesting tale involving craigslist and late-night dollar burritos. Besides, it wouldn’t really tell you anything about us. When’s the last time you really got to know somebody by reading about them on a website? If that’s the case, then Omar Khadr’s a war criminal and Woody Allen’s a pedophile, …

Glo

Montreal-based modern rock trio Glo
Since our earliest days, humans have desperately struggled to prove themselves as refined, proper and advanced. Yet not one of us can deny that carnal knowledge—one of our most basic instincts—is that which truly compels us. Regardless of money, etiquette or power, it defines us; keeps us as animals writhing in the darkness, absorbing one another’s energy, sensations and passion. We long for primal essence and the liberating purge of succumbing to pleasures of the flesh.
Such is the modus behind Montreal-based modern …

Painted Cities

Hailing from the suburbs of Vancouver, BC – Matt, Katie, Sol and John have shared the same unabated passion for music since coming together in early 2006. Reminiscent of that classic 90′s sound, Painted Cities’ songs bear an uncommon feel and energy while retaining a consistency through memorable and dynamic song structures. The foursome recorded their debut EP ‘First Coat’ over the summer of 2007 with good friend and recording artist Tom Prilesky (Wind Whistles, Definition). With the release of the band’s first full-length album this summer, Painted Cities are taking their act on the road and are finding themselves a rising bright light on the horizon well beyond 2010.
