The art of telling stories, of expressing emotion, of speaking with rhythm and register, has been a need of humanity since the very beginning. Without storytelling we have silence. Head of the Herd is opposite that silence – the music and sound of our lives.
Neu

I am listening to the CD of a Canadian singer songwriter called Paisely Jura that is going to play in Vancouver on January 5th at the Railway. I am pleasantly surprised by her work, it sounds jazzy and bluesy with the right mix of soul and classical. Her voice is pretty impressive, the texture is comforting yet full of passion. The instrumentation is really cool and the sound is very professional. Although the lyrics are about every day stuff and love the arrangements are really well done, you can tell she is classically . Nice for a rainy day. The Railway is not a venue that I would imagine having her performed, because is not as rock and roll, I think it would be nice to be sitting down drifting away with her music or even having a nice dinner with a good red wine. So here is the information and some videos for your enjoyment

The Schomberg Fair’s music grapples with the inclination to destroy oneself, the desire to be saved, and the hope of better things ahead. The band itself was born out of the near destruction of the musical ambitions of lead singer, guitarist/banjo and primary songwriter Matt Bahen. At 24, Bahen cut off all of the fingers from his left hand in a work accident, and had them reattached. While recuperating, he reconnected with high school friend Nathan Sidon, and the two bonded over their mutual appreciation of pre-war blues. It was as Bahen regained movement in his digits, and with the addition of drummer Pete Garthside’s thunderous beat and high lonesome vocals harmonies that The Schomberg Fair was born resulting in electrifying music and performances that breathe new life into Rock, Gospel and Roots music.
