The Hangers

This Montreal band plays a hard reggae or is it a fast blues? I think is funk with Latin influences, or is it Quebecois influences? I can hear some Santana in their music and a lot of Ska. The first song of their latest album Take Your Ticket is really energetic. I am sure this Montreal band make audiences jump into the dance floor. Postcard is more of a Caribbean tune, check the song at the bottom of the post. I like when they sing in French like in the song I’m on a roll. Late Night is the perfect party song. The rest of the CD is closer to ska. The Hangers is an interesting band to listen and they are back in full force with Take Your Ticket

Sam Heard

I have spent the last 10 years or so investing my time into different projects, each one quite unique. From Funk/Jazz to Folk/roots and even the occasional grunge band. Some local acts include: Colin Bullock, Cowboys and Indians, the Reckoners, Greg Neufeld, and a few more; hopefully more to come! continue to check back to see the latest endeavours, as I’m always looking for new musical adventures, like playing drums on a raft raging down the mighty thompson… mmm maybe with a cheap kit :)

Cinnamon Toast Funk

Cinnamon Toast Funk plays funk with a twist of indie pop–familiar and classic, quirky and fresh. They boast a sound that’s equal parts Sly & The Family Stone, Stevie Wonder, and Bill Withers, mixed with a touch of the modern pop those artists inspired. They released their debut full-length, Feels Much Better, in March of 2010 independently, to a devoted fanbase in the Lower Mainland. They’ve been compared to the Philosopher Kings and Wide-Mouth Mason–quirky, funky, and danceable, but they are definitely their own thing.
