Terell Safadi is a Canadian hip-hop artist based out of Vancouver. In 2011 Safadi gained local celebrity status with his remix “Black Red Yellow”. The Canuck themed song became a you-tube sensation with over 350 000 views in a two months. “ I appreciate what Black Red Yellow did for me because people know my name but it’s not who I am as an artist” says Safadi. With the momentum going Safadi self-released his first full -length album “Champagne Dreams” available through HMV Robson and on Itunes. The album is a huge stepping-stone in Safadi’s career. On the album Safadi showcases his writing and vocal abilities and exhibits his versatility as an artist.

Rapper Nate Dogg died yesterday, March 15th 2011 he was 41 years old. In 1991 Nate Dogg, Snoop Dog and Warren G formed a trio called 213. 213 recorded their first demo in the back of V.I.P record store in Long Beac. The Demo later heard by Dr. Dre at a house party shot him to fame. Nate Dogg was a four-time Grammy nominee and a major participant in the West Coast G-Funk sound

The group Highgrade Entertainment is a Canadian hip hop group and first formed in 2006 and consists of 3 members, C-Quick (Curtis Florence), Ill Crooks (Patrick Edwards), and Kovert (Steven Florence). All of Highgrade’s members were born in British Columbia Canada. Highgrade’s style of music reaches out to a wide range of audience, from hard hitting tracks like hard in the paint to club type tracks like break it down shorty.
The group has been recording their own music scince 2006. Inspired from the recent influx of Canadian artists into the mainstream hip hop music scene. Each member of the group has went through their own personal experiences growing up in poverty which reflects their own style of music. With no professional guidence or education, the group has still managed to create quailty music.

Tonye Aganaba is a dynamic and sultry soul R&B singer-songwriter born in London, England on October 24th, 1985 to a Nigerian father, and Zimbabwean mother. Now based in beautiful Vancouver B.C, her musical education came from her family’s extensive music collection.
It was within this catalog of classics that Tonye found some of her biggest influences – Michael Jackson, Sade, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon..the list goes on. Growing up she received formal training in modern, tap, hip-hop and jazz and later went on to choreograph for her high school’s Musical Theater program. Tonye’s voice flourished under the tutelage of late vocal coach, Keith Allan Hall, most famed for singing with such notable acts as Sammy Davis Jr, and Mahalia Jackson.

Ko Kapches was raised in a middle-class Greek family in the Queen and Broadview area in Toronto, Ontario. After falling into the trap of using and selling a wide variety of drugs as a 14-year-old, he soon found himself on an odyssey of rehabilitation centres across the United States. “I lived on the streets of San Francisco for a little bit until I eventually got in touch with my parents after a few weeks,” Ko explains. “My father flew out and took me home, but I started living on the streets of Toronto anyways.”

On September 24th to 26th the Greater Vancouver area will host for the 6th consecutive year the Annual Vancouver International Hip Hop Festival – HIP HOP FOR PEACE! The Festival will be three days of performances by local and international talent including MC’s, Breakdancers, DJ’s and Graffiti artists.
