Flying Fox and the Hunter Gatherers have steadily worked their way into the Winnipeg music scene since 2005.

We were wet, we danced and jumped, we explored, we climbed a mountain and crossed a river, we traveled on shrooms with Mary Jane, we camped and made new friends and met old ones. Oh yeah, there was music too…

When most kids their age were riffling through college textbooks and figuring out the path of least resistance towards some sort of stable income, these small town boys were riffling through their parents record collections, studying the messy emotion-fueled rock of Pavement and the fuzzy post-rock discography of Sonic Youth, dreaming of ways they could marry it all together. So far it hasn’t worn off, being the average age of 21, they still have their collective sights set on a future a little bit more shaky and unstable than the rest of their peers.

Formed in the early months of 2008, The Pining were brought together by a shared love of kitchen parties, old country and Jameson’s.

Run With The Kittens have played almost 800 shows in their 7 year career.

The Silver Hearts are a folk/rock, blues, jazz band out of Peterborough Ontario. I heard about these guys while I was camping in cottage country.

An indie jazz-rock band who stretches genre limits to create an eclectic mix of what could best be referred to as danceable funked-up jazz-metal.

We started the show with a band from the UK called Cougar, we played 4 songs from their single Stay Famous on Counter Records. Kind of Post rockish.

Jack Breakfast releases his new album titled, “The Escapers”., a 35 minute song about loneliness, birds, ghosts and trouble with families.

The inspectors of the City of Vancouver just discovered that Little Mountain Gallery s been renting their space for private parties, theatre plays, small gigs and all ages shows, etc. The shows here are affordable, alcohol free, and they always finish at 10PM . The venue is licensed as a retail art gallery so according to their activities don`t comply with the license. The City is worried about safety , but the volunteers of The Gallery said that there is no license in the city for places like this one because they are a hub for all arts. Most of the neighbours support the place and it has endorsements from all sorts

What I really like about these guys is their stripped bare sound. It’s gritty, electric and echos like a memory of something important you had to say. I really like their song “The Words The World Is Made Of.”

They play indie-rock folk songs about hometowns and heartbreak, born out of images from growing up in Central and Northern Alberta

These guys have to be one of the hottest bands in Toronto right now, every other person I talk to has mentioned them to me. Consisting of a DJ and a guitar player their sound is cutting edge, tight and exciting. With lyrics that make you think and a heavy groove you can’t help but fall into the soundscape they unleash upon you. I would love to see these guys live!
