Garcia sees the trend. But more important, he says, it’s about each artist finding his own voice. “Music has to be an honest extension of someone’s story,” Garcia says. “I found myself using my music heroes as my muses. When it came time to style my songs, they were part of my conscience.”

New CD is called Suppressed Anthems. Their songs have evolved from the pop rock of Latin influences to more full on Latin rhythms to Latin funk.

Taking these cultural facts into account is not suprise that Nana Caymmi became a legend in this Amazonian country. She had a fair amount of gossip around her because of her openess to drugs and her love relationship with one of the musical masters of Brazil Gilberto Gil, with whom she composed a couple of songs. The documentary has some astonishing shots of Rio de Janeiro who also plays an important role in the film. The documentary is filmed by French director Georges Gachot who directed another documentary about another Brazilian great singer Maria Bethania.

LIO is a music artist who skillfully blends various types of genres in his live performances as well as his studio recordings. Having sung and played in several alternative rock bands in Mexico he decided to embark on a new solo project that has led him to explore new possibilities for his artistic vision. His first release, TAURO EP (2007) was recorded in NYC by producing duo GLACIERZ. In late summer of 2008 the CRYSTAL EP, his current second release, was produced and performed by LIO and also co-produced and engineered by Parlange, in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia.
