Push is a solid album. If you’re already a Headwater fan you will not be disappointed and if you’re new to Headwater, you’ll probably want to grab their first two albums after hearing this one.

When the need to get your funk on hits you could be anywhere so it’s best have a Five Alarm Funk album nearby. Rock The Sky will hit your funk bone just the way you like it.

Back in the 70’s The Nerves were a trio of lads burning up the LA punk scene. They released only one EP that included a little track called “Hanging On The Telephone” which a young lady named Blondie covered and got a hit song out of.

When the crowd chants for more you give them what they want. MORE!!! They clearly take having a good time seriously as they do it so well and that’s what they pass along to their audience at a live show, a serious good time.

It’s like that that cool moment when you’re hit by a breeze in the middle of a hot sweaty dance floor and you’re suddenly swept with relief as someone’s opened the door to fresh air.

Their sound was full and vibrant and those twinkly guitar hooks had me feeling like I was at a show that was a mixing of early Smashing Pumpkins, Silversun Pickups and My Bloody Valentine.

On Thursday February 2nd 2012 a mere hop into the ever aforementioned final year of mankind, I decided to take the year by the horns so to speak and went to The Biltmore to check out Jakalope.

Josh’s set was bare bones acoustic and heartfelt, his soft voice and lyrics reveal an intelligent romantic soul. Being the first musician of the night Josh had the dubious task of warming the crowd up which is always a challenge for one man on a stage with an acoustic guitar.

Kidstreet’s debut album “Fuh Yeah” is fun fast erotic electronica with hints of retro synth-pop.

By the end of the evening the crowd had gathered around the center of the bar in a circle around the band for the final sing along of the night. Paper Lions had a way of bringing everyone together and making us new friends while at the same time making us all feel like very old friends who hadn’t seen each other in ages, marking the close of a pretty sweet night on the Vancouver music scene.

After seeing the film Electronic Awakening the night before, there was no place that I wanted to be other than at Earthdance.

I am truly sickened by the riot that occurred in Vancouver after game seven of The Stanley Cup Finals. I am almost at a loss for words. Although, disgusting and utterly shameful do come to mind. Vancouver has been voted one of the best cities in the world to live in yet the mentality of spoiled children seems to permeate the air as I write this today.
