In Russian, cinema is called KINO and the venues kinoteatr. This country has a great history of directors and epic movies. I am no expert and I don´t want to research and write about all the Russian masters of cinema but your should consider exploring Russian cinema, from the Soviet times to the modern ones. For example, Serguei Einseistein, Andrey Tarkovski, Sergey Bondarchuk, Serguei Paradzhanov )who was Gerogian but super trippy, Jodorowski must have seen his films) and the new ones like Aleksandr Sokurov.
I haven´t explored much of films here …

Moscow´s underground and artistic movement is thriving. I did not expect less from a metropolis this size and with the amount of culture at their disposal.
However… It seems that people were shocked when they suddenly realized they could have all the comodities of the west (for a rice of course) and the majority of them (as always and everywhere in the world) went on to consume junk. I don´t know what is wrong with people? maybe it is because we are under the influence of some powerful drug or a …

Driving in the Russian capital is one of the most hazardous experiences a human being can live through. You might think that is dangerous because the road is full of corrupt cops, the pavement is in bad shape or because of the weather conditions, but no, the greatest danger of them all are the drivers, especially the fat male ones. Oh my fucking God! I cannot express the stupidity of these people in words! Because there is nothing more dangerous that the combination of recklessness with stupidity. I cannot stress …

So the communist icons and memorabilia are all over the city. Big parks that were used to revive the Russian glory of Communism. Parades and a strong paternalist government that takes care of people complete the picture. A statue of Karl Marx says Proletarians of the world unite, Lenin is all over the city and so on. But the reality is that capitalism has rooted in Russia like in any other place of the world. The dream is over if there was ever a dream. The social gaps are humongous …

A Night in the musuems

Museums in Moscow are one of the best things that happened to humanity. The variety is great so you can spend entire days looking at artwork. From early Egiptians to contemporary art, from the traditional and orthodox forms of art to the most bizarre and experimental. This is a city of a vast culture where you can breathe history. The choices are ample and to discover Russian art is a revelation, especially to enjoy the Futurists (Mikhail Larionov, Natalia Goncharova, and Kazimir Malevich inspired by poets like Mayakovski), and the …

The mayor of Moscow is a guy that goes by the name of Yury Luzhkov. He was first elected in 1996, reelected in 1999 and again in 2003. His name was heard before Vladimir Putin to become president but Boris Yeltsin crashed his presidential dreams.
A couple of days ago there was a gay demonstration that was banned by the mayor who has called this marches Satanic and degenerate. The OMON (Anti riot police) were there to beat up and arrest the defiant gays (All 30 of them). A couple of …

Cops are visible everywhere. It seems like one third of the population is a police officer or a security guard. Militzia, as they are called here, go in old cars looking for the next victim. They can stop you and ask for your papers for no reason. It is their right, I guess it was inherited from the soviet era. So Russians must carry ID at all times, they have an internal passport that serves as their identification and must produce it when they are asked to. My brush with …

Moscow reminds me of Mexico City, but in the bizarre world. Maybe you remember the cartoon of the Super friends where the archienemy of Superman Bizarro takes them to the bizarro world where everything is backwards from our world. It is pretty much how it is in Moscow. But there are a lot of similarities to the other side of the world.
Like in my hometown, you can find everything open 24 hours a day, look for the sign 24 Yaca. Like in everywhere in the world, Russians love their beer, …

So here I am in Moscow, I have written several entries but I am still not happy with them so I will polish them more before I post them for the world to read. Moscow is very crazy and a very impressive city. Monumental is a good word to describe it. The cultural shock has been… well shocking. Starting with the language. The alphabet is based on the Cyrillic characters so you have to re wire your brain to read because some of our letter are pronounced different in this …

Aeropuertos internacionales.
Here I am waiting for my plane to fly towards the other side of the world. The time machine has tricked us. This happened many years ago, I am only reliving it through the new travel device, like a film of your previous lives. Chapters of weridness. Memories of future.
Passports. Every human must posses one. Governments seem to rely heavily in this process of identification. We all must carry one like if we were cattle. Our freedom of transit is severely limited, our governments have established physical borders to …
