Victoria’s The Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra on tour

Fish & Bird in Vancouver

Folk sensation from the island is completing a cross country tour.They are stopping at the Cultch on June 17th and at The Morning After show on June 14 (www.citr.ca 101.9 FM 11:30 AM PT) where they will be playing some LIVE tunes and talk about the experiences of their tour, and share some songs from their new production.

Vanmusic recommends these shows put on by Timbre Productions Concerts

Here are some recommendations for these upcoming months that we in vanmusic think you should check out before you die. Among the international artists Timbre is bringing to our city are Brendan Perry and Robin Guthrie from Dead Can Dance and Cocteau Twins respectively, from Japan Guitar Wolf and Cibo Matto, from Australia Arquitecture in Helsinki, from NY Thurston Moore from Sonic Youth among other popular bands. Anyways, we chose a couple of them for you, we left out Lykke Li and Adele because they are sold out and Killing Joke is canceled due to illness.

Allen & Alexander Air Their Dirty Laundry…

duo partners Jenny Allen and Leslie Alexander are both set to release highly anticipated new solo CDs, each produced by BCCMA/BCMIA Producer of the Year John Ellis (Be Good Tanyas, Jane Siberry, Barney Bentall). Matt Dusk announces new live album and Canadian tour

Canada’s beloved über hip crooner and international recording artist, Matt Dusk, is thrilled to be releasing his 5th album Live From Las Vegas. This special edition double CD/DVD was recorded on August 25, 2010 at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas and will be available nationally at retail and online on May 10, 2011. The North American tour will begin in Montreal, QC on April 1st and run until May 28th (Canadian dates below).

New album and tour by Toronto´s Andrea Ramolo

Andrea is a powerhouse of an indie musician, doing all her own booking and crossing the country from Newfoundland to Victoria and everywhere in between over the last few years. She secured her own Canada Council funding for her tour, and will probably drove a good chunk of it too, though unlike usual with her one man band Jason Skiendziel being her only counterpart on the road, this time Andrea is also bringing along Sean Pinchin on guitar and Josh Turnbull on drums.

Get up for The Get Down’s “Live Off The Floor” CD Release Tour

“Live Off The Floor” was originally supposed to be just a LIVE performance of previously recorded, and older unrecorded songs. But…as the recording date grew closer and closer, the plans evolved. With so many new songs under their belts, and excessive gigging within past months, they decided they wanted to capture the essence of the present! So, “Live Off The Floor” will be featuring all new recordings, all recorded live off the floor (no overdubs)! One track in particular was written especially for the record, featuring the rapping talents of their good friend , Mr. Collin Vyner (Sold Seperately).

Modern Blues Band with a Hell of an Edge Goes on Tour

Head of the Herd are doing a west coast British Columbia ‘Three Chapter Tour’ that will see them play Vancouver, Courtenay, and Whistler from March 26th – April 2nd. Head of the Herd is a local modern blues-rock band that released their debut LP entitled ‘On The House’ on February 9th, 2011. The album was released as a free download on their website www.headoftheherdmusic.com and has managed to create a small buzz in the short time since it’s release.

Fish & Bird Release “Every Whisper…” with a Canadian Tour
