Dan Snakehead presents: Any Given Sunday @ The Astoria
Sunday April 28th at the Astoria
A night with Vancouver’s finest blend of electronic music and rock. DJs Dan Snakehead, Dangamouse, Garreth Crawford and Electronic/Rock band The ReAktion will bring the noise down to the The Astoria on an epic night of dancing and head banging. Proudly presented by Dan Snakehead in association with The Astoria and sponsored by East Van Ink Tattoo.
Dan Snakehead has been performing for 14 years. He is a certified T.R.I. DJ (now school of mix) trained under Dj Marvel in 2004. He was a night club, after hours and house party Dj and competed in the World Dj Mix Championships by invite aka the DMC’s (Whistler ’05 and Victoria ’05, ’06.)
Originally from Scotland, Dangamouse is a UK transplant who is currently calling Vancouver his home. Starting out Dangamouse took an interest in the early sounds of hardcore, jungle and drum and bass and migrated over to DJing after being inspired by mixtapes and pirate radio. With a fierce hobby of collecting music, including seeking out hard to find and limited edition vinyl releases, Dangamouse has increased his appetite for music which subsequently has lead to his superior track selection skills.
Currently, Dangamouse keeps busy with gigs in Vancouver and across Canada playing a blend of UK influenced Bass Music while also being a resident DJ for Vancouver’s Fractured Technique events, focusing on the deep & darker elements of Dubstep & Drum n Bass. As an avid bass music fanatic, you can often catch him out at some of Vancouver’s best underground events.
The ReAktion begins as a band in 2010 with the end of several personal and musical phases of its members. A period of changes and decisive situations would take the members to leave behind their former projects, clean the canvas and start from scratch. But as a concept, The ReAktion began long before, growing within all of them as an expression that needed a means to come out to the light. A concept that integrates a view of the world, a perspective of how to understand music and a way to face a new world stage for bands with much to offer.
From the beginning self-production, independence and an open approach to the world are part of the whole work of the band, as a reflection of the ideals and perceptions of reality of its members. An increasingly complex world stage that requires active entities to change things, with global awareness and a strong connection with those around them is the reality that drives The ReAktion.
Throughout the year 2011 the band creates “Be(lie)ve in R(evol)ution”, their first album, which was generated through a completely independent process, with the band not only behind the composition, recording, editing and mastering of the album, but also behind its artwork, audiovisual material and distribution. This way they achieved a 14 track high standard record that reflects the inner journey of those who are awaking to the new order of things, those who realize that the world we live in is just a mock-up of what happens in reality and decide to break the silence putting an end to the lies. It is an invitation to join the collective consciousness that every day becomes more evident, an invisible network of minds that think things over about the system they are part of.
