Comic And Zine Fair
The Waldorf Hotel will be hosting a comic book and zine fair on Sunday, December 19th
Featuring a book signing and special musical performance by Portland based multi-disciplinary artist Dame Darcy. The Fair will also showcase talented local magazines, comic presses and zine makers including: Ed Brisson, Colin Upton, Cloudscape Comics Collective, Mongrel, Melanie Coles, Discorder Magazine and Robin Bougie (Cinema Sewer).
Dame Darcy’s acclaimed comic book Meat Cake has been published since the early 90’s and since then has received rave reviews in The New York Times and been celebrated by Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), Courtney Love and
Margaret Cho. Her other celebrated publications include her novel Gasoline, which has an accompanying musical soundtrack by her band Death by Doll released by Emperor Records. Some of her most recent works include collaborations with Alan Moore, songwriter Tori Amos and she is currently working with Marvel Comics on a series of Fairy Tales using the characters of the Fantastic Four.

Dame Darcy
The event will be hosted in the Leeteg Room and will run from 11:30 am to 6:00 pm, there will be a musical performance by Dame Darcy’s Death by Doll at 5pm and an all day special screening of documentaries that celebrate comic and zine culture including “$100 & A T-Shirt” by Joe Biel. Dame Darcy will be available for book signing from 1-4. This is her first appearance and performance in Vancouver.
