On September 24th to 26th the Greater Vancouver area will host for the 6th consecutive year the Annual Vancouver International Hip Hop Festival – HIP HOP FOR PEACE! The Festival will be three days of performances by local and international talent including MC’s, Breakdancers, DJ’s and Graffiti artists.

New Venue for the New Forms Festival which celebrates its 10 year anniversary. A milestone for this electronic, preformance, artistis, digital and avant gard festival. All events at W2/Storyeum – 151 West Cordova Street, Vancouver, BC. The Festival and Exhibition Opens on Sept 10th, featuring over 15 art installations and performances by a number of Vancouver’s emerging electronic artists. Sept 11th focuses on the next level of dub infused music with SLUGABED, BLUE DAISY, ILLUM SPHERE, and NASTY NASTY. Sept 12th showcases BEAT NATION, a collective of Indigenous artists working in traditional and new media environments. Sept 17th, New Forms serves up a new experience on the dance floor with SCOTT W, JASON LEV and OMAR-S, one of the most influential dj/producers in House and Techno today.

With no lack of creative substance KAi is a breath of fresh air in the now stagnant world of Hip Hop. KAi’s music is driven by a unique vocal style that seems to change with each new record and an attention to lyricism not often found in the ringtone era. Blessed with the talent to rock the mic and the balls to rock the crowd, KAi is as much an entertainer as he is a musician. Hungry for success this eclectic rapper is on the grind in 09. With his debut solo mixtape “ADayInTheLife – The Biopic” already released and sold out, this young artist is busy in the studio recording multiple projects including: “I Am The V” from RappaRockaReggae duo The Shottas (KAi and brother Atlin)

When you step on a scale, what do you see?…A number higher than the one you had in your mind?…Well that’s not the case for Stephen “Subway” McGruther and Guy Woods, when these 2 hip-hop heavyweights jump on, the scale reads “to the top”, a destination at which these hungry artists, no pun intended, are sure to arrive. Since early 2006, when the chance came to finally link up in Victoria B.C. instead of cyberspace, the towering two-some have taken Canada by storm. This has culminated into their first major single video “Free” being played in rotation on MuchMusic’s RapCity, Canada’s most revered Hip-Hop outpost, along with the MuchVibe program, as well as the channel. Between Subway’s soaring vocal range and Guy Woods’ molasses-smooth delivery, the two larger-than -life emcees have come together to bring a whole new look to the game, being dubbed the new jazz in the process.

So-liva/Rawzilla is a Hip Hop artist who was born and raised in Windsor Ontario becoming a major component of the city’s underground hip hop scene. It’s only natural that his musical style be slightly influenced by neighboring Detroit.

Your House was formed in 2006 as an amalgamation of two bands, one with reggae tones and the other a mix of hip-hop and rock. Each member possessed a different musical talent and influence from a particular genre. After much experimentation, this new group eventually found their sound in a unique middle ground, blending all of their individual niches to produce a dynamic and intriguing mix.
