umbers seem to confirm that Arcade Fire is the most popular Canadian INDIE band in the world, the most popular Canadian “artist” would probably be Celine Dion but we will not go into that swampy territory. Arcade Fire have been filling stadiums and playing all kind of festivals around the world. The band is based in Montreal, Quebec and was formed by a couple, Win Butler and Regine Chassagne who are now husband and wife. The earliest Montreal-based incarnation of the Arcade Fire began performing in the summer/fall of 2001, almost entirely in lofts and art galleries.

I saw this band at the Shindig at the Railway and were one of the best acts of CiTR’s battle of the bands. They said their names are Celina Argentina, Alie finale, dead Fred and Enzio and their influences include a number of actors in a number of films. Their songs are short, catchy and use a marimba. Their album is called you would run from Ratboy grave! they just released it with Geographing Records and obviously is very popular with their families.
