CD Review – Se7en Sided “Life On Hold”

Se7en Sided are a stellar band from Edmonton AB. Their CD Life On Hold was released on September 20, 2011. At that time I was hospitalized and couldn’t even listen the CD until I was released in early October. The 12 song CD is a good progression from their first CD “The Silver Lining. The band had Randor Lin produce and engineer the CD and it was mastered by Charles Carvalho at Joao Carvalho Mastering. I really enjoy this bands’ music as it speaks the truth about how lives are lived – it’s honest music. Not a lot of bands do that – tell it like it is. Straight up music.

CD Review – Shoot The Image – Cranes In The City

Toronto band Shoot The Image release their debut CD which was produced by Morrissey guitarist Boz Boorer. This is one sweet CD that you will want to own! This CD is absolutely brilliant. Everything about it – from the performances by all band members, the quality of the production of every song and the mixing/mastering – is by far the best I’ve heard by any band in recent years. These songs are polished and shine like gems in the murky and vast world of Independent Music.

EP Review – Ghosthouse – Fashionably Late

Ghosthouse is a Chicago IL project headed by the infamous Jimmy Con and his tasty beats. Jimmy is a singer/songwriter who makes some mighty fine beats and has dance tracks that are infectious and classy. Original beats, sampled beats mixed with original beats and old school beats make for a fine four song EP. Fashionably Late was produced by Jimmy Con with his musical partner in crime Chuck. They equally share production credits as well as writing the tracks except for a cover by The Monkees.
