Ronnie Burkett’s Penny Plain at the Cultch until December 17th

This richly imaginative show brings to life a world on the verge of extinction. Through his cast of eccentric characters, Burkett weaves a cautionary tale. A threatening pandemic has brought the world as we know it to the brink of an apocalypse. The elderly Penny Plain sits patiently at home, awaiting the inevitable end. When her companion dog Geoffrey leaves her to become “a gentleman”, she begins the search for a replacement. Penny Plain is blind, but fully aware of the desperate state of mankind. Through encounters with survivalists, a serial killer, an undercover cross-dressing banker, talking dogs (Pepe, the womanizing chihuahua) and mysterious strangers, this apocalyptic story shows the funny and chilling consequences as Mother Earth cleans house and reclaims her ground.

VanMusic Interview with Mish Way of White Lung

“We’ve been on tour for 2 months doing a square of the continent. But favorite shows…NYC and LA are always great, Long Beach especially. Our show in Charlotte, North Carolina was my favorite because we played with a band called Brain F that I really love. Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, Oakland, Gainsville, Ann Arbour, Chicago, SF. It all kind of bleeds together now. This was an interesting tour.”

The Boys Were Back In Town…

Adventures in Pop Nostalgia…

Reviewed By: Michelle Panton. I was at Rogers Arena Sunday evening for the second of two sold out New Kids On The Block/Backstreet Boys concerts. Early on in the night, I knew this was going to be a unique experience. As a confirmed Concert Addict, I’ve been to far more shows than most. Man, I’ve seen some stuff; Thousands of metal fans sitting on command, fire, explosions, giant trains, legendary musicians, acts of love, violence, and greed and death. But never once have I opened the night by witnessing a drug-addled threesome happening in the bathroom stall next to mine!

Exclusive Interview with Jon Anderson from legendary band YES

Jon Anderson is a legend in his own spare time as he jokes about it. He was the founder of the legendary band YES, lead singer and composer of many of the tracks including the hits “Owner of a lonely heart” “Leave It” and “It can happen”. YES was always labeled as a progressive rock band “there has always been progressive music, I don’t call it progressive rock, I would like to call it progressive music, we were not just progressive, our music was based on rock, jazz, folk, it was a combination of all that

TWO GALLANTS LIVE IN VANCOUVER JUNE 26TH!

After a two-year break, the San Francisco guitar-drum duo TWO GALLANTS will begin touring again this summer across the North America and Europe. The well-needed time off came after six years of incessant touring and the release of three full-length studio albums and an acoustic EP. The band consists of childhood friends Tyson Vogel and Adam Stephens who met on their elementary school playground at the age of five. Despite an initial disagreement and ensuing scuffle over the supremacy of White Lion vs. Whitesnake, the two have been best friends ever since. They have been playing music together in some capacity since 1994, when their parents made the mistake of giving them both electric guitars for Christmas
