The Nerves Interview

Back in the 70’s The Nerves were a trio of lads burning up the LA punk scene. They released only one EP that included a little track called “Hanging On The Telephone” which a young lady named Blondie covered and got a hit song out of.

Diamond Dancer Review From The Railway Club

Their sound was full and vibrant and those twinkly guitar hooks had me feeling like I was at a show that was a mixing of early Smashing Pumpkins, Silversun Pickups and My Bloody Valentine.

Joyce Collingwood

Joyce Collingwood was formed on April of 2009 in Vancouver, B.C by five girls with the goal of making raw, unpretentious punk. “What kind of music did we want to play together?”, we asked each other. Fast music. Short songs. Punk. Metal. Like the magic of music does, it happened almost instantaneously. The band member’s musical influences range from thrash metal to cumbia. This mix of styles has been an asset when it comes to songwriting and everybody participates in writing and arranging music.

The Brass Action

Vancouver Based Band The Brass Action

The Brass Action is a Vancouver based, high-energy, horn-driven, ska band!  With two loud horns, we’ve been making noise in Vancouver for the past 3 years.  We’re a 6-piece band that mashes jazz, reggae, ska, and punk into one big ball of flaming music and spits it out at anybody within earshot. Be prepared to dance, skank, mosh, sweat, and find out why we’re called The Brass Action.  We are an independent band and we just released our first EP after many long hard years …

Joyce Collingwood CD release party at The Waldorf

Heavy Cream and Joyce Collingwood both filled the room with their raucous energy and stadium sound. Seriously, both of these bands sound huge and I swear I saw paint melting from the walls due to the energy they brought.

Review For The Artist Life’s New Album “Impossible”

Their radio friendly riffs, fast harmonies and quick melodies are sure to fill young iphones and ipods across the continent. Would I buy Impossible? Being that I’m in my thirties, it’s not quite my style. But if I was seventeen or I wanted to reminisce about being seventeen then I would probably buy it and dance in the living room at a friend’s house party with a girl I’m hoping to make out with and I would love every minute of it.

The Mark Inside

It is entirely possible that The Mark Inside’s new EP False Flag may never have seen the light of day. Myself and the rest of the band—Geoff Bennett, Gus Harris, and Reade Ollivier—have had to struggle a long time to get this out to you and to get where we are today. But I think we’ve come out the other side stronger, self-possessed artists (yes I am willing to label ourselves as such) content to live and die by our collective sword. We have lived this music inside and out and mean every word, beat and note of it.

Wildlife

Wildlife is a power pop band with strong elements of rock and soul. I just found out about these guys and while I don’t know much about them, I am kind of hooked on their MySpace page right now. I think I’m going to have to buy their debut album “Strike Hard, Young Diamond” which went up on itunes yesterday.

Mediocre At Best

What I really like about these guys is their stripped bare sound. It’s gritty, electric and echos like a memory of something important you had to say. I really like their song “The Words The World Is Made Of.”

The WhiskeyDicks

The WhiskeyDicks are a group of Celtic Gypsy Punk Rockers who have spent the better part of a decade carving a reputation for themselves as “One Hell of a Good Time”.

The WhiskeyDicks bridge the gap between traditional and modern popular music with an enthusiasm that is contagious and eclecticism that knows no bounds. With nearly a dozen degrees in music under their collective belt, the band’s members take what they have learned in the universities and bring it to the stage. Their interests range from Hungary to Hip-hop and from Scotland to Slayer.

Stampede Queen

n a world where Boy Pop and Teen Queen squealing has ruled the charts along side it’s equally prefabricated counterparts Garage & Punk, come the brave men of Stampede Queen, leading the New Rock Revolution. Stampede Queen embraces its true rock roots. They take a Hot & Horny Heart-Pounding, Fist-Raising, Whiskey-Swillin’ blend of 70s era AC/DC and KISS and add to it a dose of CHEAP Trick and Gun’s & Roses. The results? Real ROCK ‘N’ ROLL!… Sexy & POWER FULL!!!
