Mercy Years is a Vancouver band you will like.

Born out of Vancouver’s coffee scene, Mercy Years is a collaboration from parts of British Columbia, the Canadian Prairies and London, England. Euphoric melodies and driving rhythms reflect their expansive origins; hints of the UK post-punk scene are melded with Cascadian indie-rock textures resulting in a stirring wall of sound.
The initial spark was an answer to a Craigslist ad for musicians in autumn 2009. Then came a failed attempt at formation, leaving guitarists Nick Russell and Adam Sharp to assemble a collection …

The Harvest was kind enough to chat with us at Aurora Studios. After a couple of beers and some vodka coolers we decided to pull out the camera and shoot a raw music video for them. Check it out below!

Back in the 70’s The Nerves were a trio of lads burning up the LA punk scene. They released only one EP that included a little track called “Hanging On The Telephone” which a young lady named Blondie covered and got a hit song out of.

When the crowd chants for more you give them what they want. MORE!!! They clearly take having a good time seriously as they do it so well and that’s what they pass along to their audience at a live show, a serious good time.

Their sound was full and vibrant and those twinkly guitar hooks had me feeling like I was at a show that was a mixing of early Smashing Pumpkins, Silversun Pickups and My Bloody Valentine.

Here is your chance to be a big shot record producer. Or at least to feel like one. From now until February 15th Vancouver Blues/Rock outfit The Stone Pines are raising money to record their new Album.

By the end of the evening the crowd had gathered around the center of the bar in a circle around the band for the final sing along of the night. Paper Lions had a way of bringing everyone together and making us new friends while at the same time making us all feel like very old friends who hadn’t seen each other in ages, marking the close of a pretty sweet night on the Vancouver music scene.

Wednesday October 26th. The Cobalt gets classy and oysters will be served. Seriously. Oysters will be served… I don’t think I’ve ever eaten an oyster. Look for an interview and review soon!

Their influences are wide and various, from the Ramones and Sublime, to Butch Walker, No Doubt and Motley Crue.

To lead off the tour Matt just completed the video for his first single, the sure-fire hit “Met Someone” shot in Vancouver.

On the surface of their current record (about which Grassia and Azzolini say is their best work), one can easily hear the classic ‘Golden Dog’ sound and feel the familiar frantic bop and bounce that has always been their calling card.

CMTM are masterful songwriters, almost unbeknownst to themselves. In dark bars, parties, or bright festival stages CMTM transform into raucous punk rock and rollers, yelling about the economy and its endless digression, schizophrenia, alcohol and of course, girls.
