La Hacienda opens for the Greenhornes at the Media Club Dec 12th

The trio of Craig Fox, Patrick Keeler and Jack Lawrence–heretofore known as The Greenhornes—have been churning out the highest quality rock n roll for well over a decade. Formed in the late 90s in Cincinnati, Ohio, The Greenhornes have toured the world over (and over and over) and released 3 full length albums, an ep and a boat load of singles across a multitude of record labels.
In fact, the buzz surrounding San Antonio’s Hacienda may signal a rebirth of young Rock n’ Roll to the country’s landscape. Its rock n’ roll with emphasis on the Roll when it comes to the music on their latest release, Big Red and Barbacoa.

Film: Gaspar Noe’s Enter the Void

After 7 years or so, Gaspar Noe, an Argentinean/French director comes back with a mesmerizing production that deals with the after life and the electronic circuits of Tokyo. The night life of the dead. After his controversial film Irreversible, Gaspar is bound to surpass the frontiers of art. Labeled by Noé as a “psychedelic melodrama”. This day-glo nocturne is told through the eyes of an American dope-dealer, Oscar (Nathaniel Brown), tripping on a powerful hallucinogen. That is, until Oscar is shot in a nightclub, when the film takes on the aspect of an out of body experience.

The Waldorf Reopens

The Waldorf is a creative hub in the heart of East Vancouver where contemporary art, music, food and culture convene under one roof. The programming for the space will be both artistically expansive and thematically inclusive. The Waldorf Hotel, designed in 1947 by architects Mercer & Mercer, was remarkable from the beginning for its modernist style. In 1955, capitalizing on an emerging interest in Polynesian culture, the complex was transformed into one of North America’s most renowned “tiki” themed bars and hotels

The Morning After Show Playlist March 23rd

We started the show with this band called a Problem of Alarming Dimensions, I was running on the cliffs of St John´s New Foundland with these songs in me headphones like 5 years ago. What a feeling, a perfect soundtrack for the wind and the gray landscape of the sky and the fierce waves pounding the cliffs, what a strange city, I love it. It was fresh but old, astounding and exciting. Small, cozy and crazy. Check the photo, it was taken day day. Anyways enjoy the songs.
