“Live Off The Floor” was originally supposed to be just a LIVE performance of previously recorded, and older unrecorded songs. But…as the recording date grew closer and closer, the plans evolved. With so many new songs under their belts, and excessive gigging within past months, they decided they wanted to capture the essence of the present! So, “Live Off The Floor” will be featuring all new recordings, all recorded live off the floor (no overdubs)! One track in particular was written especially for the record, featuring the rapping talents of their good friend , Mr. Collin Vyner (Sold Seperately).

This post of the BEST indie bands in Vancouver will be divided in two, in this first one we are going to explore the indie of the indie, bands that are emerging, new, fresh, experimental, not so well known, not established, they play in clubs and pubs but that we and our readers like and see and even befriend some of them. Some are not that new either but all of them have achieved success and buzz this last year so we include them here in our humble lists of our favourites. May this list serve as a recommendation for our overseas readers, may it serve as a reference, but also as an aid for these struggling artists. At the end, the ultimate objective is to entertain our visitors, the music fans of Vancouver and the world

Sunday May 23rd, the night of the CD release party for the Get Down and I’m running late. My friend Evil Patrick and I hop on his scooter and arrive at the Railway Club, with mascara running down my face and Evil always the gentlemen helping me wipe it off, we head in just before the Get Down hit the stage.
The place is very busy, and it’s pretty obvious that the Get Down’s audience has increased in numbers since the last time I’d seen them. This of course doesn’t surprise …

Here are a few videos from the April 7th show at The Railway Club with Aunts And Uncles, Waltz Darling, Sunday’s Best and The Get Down.
We want to thank Jason Chatterton for bringing his camera and shooting this for us. And we’d like the thugs in Latvia who stole our camera from Oswaldo to stub their toes or get kicked really hard in the shins.

We started the show with this band called a Problem of Alarming Dimensions, I was running on the cliffs of St John´s New Foundland with these songs in me headphones like 5 years ago. What a feeling, a perfect soundtrack for the wind and the gray landscape of the sky and the fierce waves pounding the cliffs, what a strange city, I love it. It was fresh but old, astounding and exciting. Small, cozy and crazy. Check the photo, it was taken day day. Anyways enjoy the songs.

THE GREATEST BAND IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!
Well, that may be saying a lot. This orgy of sound got together in the winter of 2006, when it was learned that lead guitar player and celebrity chef Erick Bullen, actually played guitar…well! He was asked to jam with a core nucleus consisting of Tyson Watt , James Emerson, and Mark Ferraby. “Needless to say” they hit it off!
Forged with elements of rock, reggae, blues and alternative. The Get Down has established its own unique sound that sets them apart in …
