Funk Vigilante

Funk V is a brand new 5-piece funk-metal band from Victoria, British Columbia. We’ve got the funky beats, the heavy guitars, and hip-hop influenced vocals. We play songs about peace and freedom because goddammit it just feels so good.

“The seven songs on Funk Vigilante’s first record, Civil Disobedience, are all winners. From the opening cackle of air raid sirens in the title track to the electronic beat down of “Riot Police,” there isn’t a dull second of music.

Versus The Nothing

There’s something about Nothing…

The unabashed, melodic, hard rock band, Versus the Nothing is a quintet that focuses on writing solid songs with tight, energetic performances. Their music combines heavy guitars, with powerful, melodic vocals that are propelled by driving rhythms and anthemic choruses. Clean, quiet moments swell into raging guitars, punctuated by short blasts of gang vocals as they rise into crashing sing-along choruses, accented by hopeful lyrics.

Woodgrain

Woodgrain
Woodgrain is a Vancouver indie band with such a good feel.

Perfect for sitting back with a friend or two and enjoy the evening.

A household of tale tellers and truth sellers, Woodgrain connects the Northeast and Southwest of North America, with a touch of the in-between. Currently residing in the Northwest, we throw it down for our respective hometowns, while showing love for British Columbia.

Have a look, have a listen, drop a line and keep them in mind, if you happen to think these songs are fine.

Your House

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is Your House…
Your House was formed in 2006 as an amalgamation of two bands, one with reggae tones and the other a mix of hip-hop and rock. Each member possessed a different musical talent and influence from a particular genre. After much experimentation, this new group eventually found their sound in a unique middle ground, blending all of their individual niches to produce a dynamic and intriguing mix.

The Sicks

“Don’t bore us, get to the chorus!” With a motto cribbed from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and a style all their own, The Sicks have been barn-storming the Vancouver music scene as of late. Difficult to pigeonhole, the band’s’ sound references a diversity of styles, from down and out country rockers to rum flavored island grooves. The tie that binds it all together is a direct, no-nonsense approach to song-craft and an emotional honesty that results in tight, catchy tunes no matter how you want to label them.

Chelsea Johnson

Chelsea Johnson is truly one of the most talented singers that Vancouver has has been blessed with. As she travels across Canada singing in coffee shops and different venues, people all around leave with a warm feeling in there hearts.

Chelsea is by far one of my favorite singer songwriters on my list. You have to check her if she is playing in a city near you. She has appeared on Canadian Idol on a few occasions and was even picked to go to Toronto.

Vacant City

A Vancouver band with Hard-hitting electric sets of great guitar riffs, steady drum and bass & catchy vocal harmonies

With origins as diverse as their talents, Brendan Albert (guitars, vocals), Chris Barrett (bass, vocals) and Dana Pemberton (drums, percussion) were each on their individual roads to musical freedom. Little did they know that those paths would serendipitously converge at the crossroads of Vacant City.

The Intruders

Coming from Kamloops, BC, The Intruders is a indie blues & rock band from Vancouver. They formed in early 2007 as a NWOBHM-style band. Quickly changing course, we turned to a more bluesy sound and hence found our style. Every member of the band shares the same unique taste in rock and roll. We dig Delta & Chicago blues, 60s garage rock, southern rock, British Invasion, acid-rock, early punk etc. We have recently moved to Vancouver and will be recording our new album at Nimbus Recording Studios starting November 3rd so stay tuned.

THE GREATEST BAND IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!
Well, that may be saying a lot. This orgy of sound got together in the winter of 2006, when it was learned that lead guitar player and celebrity chef Erick Bullen, actually played guitar…well! He was asked to jam with a core nucleus consisting of Tyson Watt , James Emerson, and Mark Ferraby. “Needless to say” they hit it off!
Forged with elements of rock, reggae, blues and alternative. The Get Down has established its own unique sound that sets them apart in …

Chris Assaad

It has become difficult to sincerely fall in love with an artist. Different sounds invoke different feelings and responses.
We are often forced to listen to one type of sound to capture one type of emotion. Please lend your ear to the sounds of Chris Assaad. ; never forcing you to compromise. Chris’s songs capture the essence of struggle, celebrate the bliss of pure happiness, and recognize the duality of life and love. With a sound which can be uplifting and saddening, up-tempo and lazy, the music lover no longer has to search for music that captures their emotion when the full range is on a Chris Assaad B-side.

I am Imaaji & Music is my soul mate

Shakespeare said, all the world’s a stage. Indeed! We are here to present who we are, in our own exceptional way. Music is who I am. I am IMAAJI. Music is my soul mate. Ever since I was a little girl, when no one was there, music was always there, ready to share. Through music I have the opportunity to make a difference and love plays an important role in expressing from my soul. Love says “BE YOURSELF”, in your own expressive way. We all have this gift, the gift of “expression”. With our message, we honor our past, those who have set the stage before us. My musical inspiration has come from a variety of genres, and include the likes of Curtis Mayfield, Billy Holiday, Nina Simone, Sade, Donny Hathaway, Bessie Smith, Tina Turner, James Brown, Bob Marley, Diana King, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Dan Hill, Anita Baker, Aerosmith, Lenny Kravitz, Me’shell N’degeocello, India Arie and John Mayer. I must also mention the importance of the written influences of Eckhart Tolle, Maya Angelou and Sister Souljah. Well, I hope you fall in love with my “expressions” the way I have. Please stay close and tune in for more. Leave me a note. Let’s do what we can, now, to make a difference in whatever way we can, with love. Yesterday is gone, and tomorrow is unknown, NOW is all we truly have.
