umbers seem to confirm that Arcade Fire is the most popular Canadian INDIE band in the world, the most popular Canadian “artist” would probably be Celine Dion but we will not go into that swampy territory. Arcade Fire have been filling stadiums and playing all kind of festivals around the world. The band is based in Montreal, Quebec and was formed by a couple, Win Butler and Regine Chassagne who are now husband and wife. The earliest Montreal-based incarnation of the Arcade Fire began performing in the summer/fall of 2001, almost entirely in lofts and art galleries.
then some writers started comparisons with U2.

I am listening to the CD of a Canadian singer songwriter called Paisely Jura that is going to play in Vancouver on January 5th at the Railway. I am pleasantly surprised by her work, it sounds jazzy and bluesy with the right mix of soul and classical. Her voice is pretty impressive, the texture is comforting yet full of passion. The instrumentation is really cool and the sound is very professional. Although the lyrics are about every day stuff and love the arrangements are really well done, you can tell she is classically . Nice for a rainy day. The Railway is not a venue that I would imagine having her performed, because is not as rock and roll, I think it would be nice to be sitting down drifting away with her music or even having a nice dinner with a good red wine. So here is the information and some videos for your enjoyment

The legendary director Carlos Saura (whose Mozart film I, Don Giovanni also plays at the Vancity Theatre in December) has been exploring the sensuality of dance, light and music on film since the early 80s in films like Blood Wedding, Flamenco, and the Oscar-nominated Tango.
Fados continues in this tradition.

Acquired immune deficiency syndrome or acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) is a disease of the human immune system caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). This condition progressively reduces the effectiveness of the immune system and leaves individuals susceptible to opportunistic infections and tumors. HIV is transmitted through direct contact of a mucous membrane or the bloodstream with a bodily fluid containing HIV, such as blood, semen, vaginal fluid, preseminal fluid, and breast milk.

On Wednesday April 7th VanMusic put on a show at The Railway Club here in Vancouver.
It was just over a year ago that we launched VanMusic and almost one year to the day when we threw our first event. Coincidentally when we arrived at The Railway there was a birthday in progress and we even arrived to cake. Sometimes the universe speaks in strange ways…
The Railway is a great venue, there’s something about seeing that train near the ceiling as it travels along the track. …

These 4 East Side brocks have come together to create the brilliant, punk-infused, sonic assault known as Mongoose. This is one golden Goose that will lay at your feet the golden egg of Rock! (and you can eat that one for breakfast). The band, comprised of RC (vocals), Shockk (guitar), Johnny Wildkat (bass), and a host of supporting drummers is like a midnight ride on a blue unicorn hurtling towards the sun.

The Awkward Stage were awesome, the combine pop melodies with rock riffs and catchy tunes. The CD slimming mirrors flattering lights is one of the best albums that have come out of Vancouver in the recent years with songs like Animae eyes, Skeleton blonde and only good days are caught in camera, the sun goes down on girlsville are some of my favourite songs.
