One of the newest Fraser Valley bands is about to release their first EP in March, but in the meantime the band just released their single, “Vacation”, a catchy rock pop song that flirts with punk.
The single is available on their bandcamp page, and if you like the tune, there are four versions of it for your enjoyment: A studio version, a raw demo, an acoustic and a Live Action Fezz remix, (which is very trippy by the way). The band is very interesting, while it is a new project, their members are “veterans” of the Vancouver scene ( You Say Party! We Say Die!, On No! Yoko, and GSTS!). The single with all its versions just makes you curious to see what their EP will have in store for the listeners. I can’t wait.

The emblematic and popular band has announced a long break to focus on their personal lives. YSP is one of the seminal bands from the Lower Mainland, originally from Abbotsford they have toured the world and helped a lot of upcoming musicians along the way, directly and indirectly. Since their beginnings the punk-new-wave-pop-band had always maintained their integrity and honesty that reflected in their powerful shows.

We have talked at great length with each other and our families and friends about the future. Devon’s parents have encouraged us to continue on and given us their blessing. It is their opinion (as well as ours) that Devon would never have wanted his death to end the band. He would have wanted us to continue on. In the time between Devon’s passing and this statement, we have all reflected upon our personal lives. Krista has decided that her time with us has come to an end as she no longer desires the long drives, poor sleeps and revolting selection of road food. Instead she’s choosing a home, a garden, some gluten-free baking and a proper education. We will miss Krista very much and she remains a part of our lives.

We started the show with this band called a Problem of Alarming Dimensions, I was running on the cliffs of St John´s New Foundland with these songs in me headphones like 5 years ago. What a feeling, a perfect soundtrack for the wind and the gray landscape of the sky and the fierce waves pounding the cliffs, what a strange city, I love it. It was fresh but old, astounding and exciting. Small, cozy and crazy. Check the photo, it was taken day day. Anyways enjoy the songs.

I was judging one of the semi finals where these guys played. It was an easy pick for me. Their guitar and drums duo just went on creating landscapes of heavy post rock. For me the hard decision was who I was going to chose second. Their sound reminded me of different musical states of mind, it was like a collage of fresh rock. Trans Am meets Thrill Jockey records from Chicago. Influences that go from Sabbath to Yes.
