On April 17th 2010 at The Rickshaw, Joey Only celebrated his birthday with The Joey Only Outlaw Band by holding the release party for their fifth album Transgression Trail.
With a full band and a sound that defines where the band is at the moment, Joey’s new album is more about life then the political tones of his previous releases.
Joey Only is a consummate performer he pokes fun at the crowd and at Vancouver in general and with songs like Honkey Tonk Hockey and The Ghetto Birdz his prolific slant on Canadiana is heart inspiring.
The Joey Only Outlaw Band love what they do, you can see it in their faces and the way the communicate with each other on stage. From the accordion to the fiddle, tambourine, bass, slide guitar and drums, Joey steers the ride one honkey tonk step at a time and the crowd stomps their feet with every beat.
In my opinion five albums begins to border epic, I hesitate to imagine the journeys that Joey Only will have to endure for the muse of his music.
Check out The Joey Only Outlaw Band webpage and Myspace and listen to Friday Sunrise on April 23rd for our interview with Joey Only.
“Twelve original songs with the classic energy of the full Joey Only Outlaw Band. Joey Only has walked the Transgression Trail through much of his difficult life, the Trans-Canada Hwy brought him across the country in a somewhat failed quest for self discovery…”
