Ponytails – A four piece psychedelic band

Ponytails are a four piece psychedelic band out of Vancouver. Grab a slice of pizza, light some candles and enjoy our chill sounds!
“Interesting guitar riffs, distant-sounding vocals, and crashing, high energy choruses are what separates the band from being just another indie band.”
Ponytails came to fruition in March 2016, spawned from best friends Harvey Merrit (vocals, bass) and Travis Goeres (lead guitar) love of pizza and the theme music of Sylvester Stallone movies. Liam Ness (bass, rhythm guitar, vocals) and Simon Furminger (drums, vocals) joined in late March and in …

Spirit Unforgettable: Documentary about John Mann and the Spirit of the West

The Vancouver International Film Festival presented the documentary by Pete McCormack.
By Oswaldo Perez Cabrera.
Spirit Unforgettable won the award for Most Popular Canadian Documentary (based on audience balloting).
The film is as local as it can get. The documentary is dramatic and powerful and will leave a tear in your eye. The music is an auditory photograph for the people who were around in BC and Canada in general in the eighties and nineties and even at the beginning of the century. I am sure that some of you reading these lines are even in the documentary, or saw something in it as it happened in real life with your own eyes and in full colour. This documentary also hits hard to our community because the subject, John Mann, is a friend or a neighbour; a familiar figure for most of us, one of Vancouver greatest icons and a great guy.

Comprenhensive list of musicians who died in 2016 with videos Part 1.

Every year many people die. It hits hard when you have met the deceased. It hits harder when it’s somebody close to you. Many people feel saddened when a celebrity dies because they feel they know them. They were used to seeing their famous face on TV or listening to their voice on the radio; they followed their lives, their relationships, the houses they lived in, the clothes they wore. Sometimes they become accustomed to celebrities, fantazising to become like them: famous, talented and attractive. We generally see celebrities as winners, successful and glamorous. Some of them live sad, depressive lives while others live long prosperous lives. Here we will read and see about the lives of some of the musicians that died in 2016. Whatever the case and whatever the cause, here at VanMusic we want to pay homage to some musicians that died in 2016. Whatever the case and whatever the cause, here at VanMusic we want to pay homage to some of the musicians that left us in 2016, a year many people called a killer.
