Spookhaus Live On The Drive-Car Free Day 2011

With his ripped up jersey covered in blood, a skull mask and a hockey helmet with a bloody bear paw on the back, this caught my attention! Not only was his guitar riffs tight and solid, I wanted to find out his message.

Hockey Riots in Vancouver 2011

I am so disturbed by what happened last night! That was some of the craziest shit that I witnessed as a journalist. We took a perfectly good thing and made it into a bad thing. Instead of celebrating how far me made it in the playoffs, a few disrespectful punks have now marked Vancouver as “The No Fun City”! Never again will we be able to gather in the streets together as a city and cheers on together for a good thing. We all said that we were more grown up then 94, but these few young shit heads just wanted to pretend to be cool and a part of something. Well how about being apart of something special, something we call the Canada Way, something to be proud of instead of ashamed of how the rest of Canada will now always look at us.

The best In Beatboxing!

Beatboxing is sweeping the nation. It’s hard to believe if you have not heard a beatboxer yet! If you are one of the few, below are some of my favorite beatboxing videos.

The first video is what really got me interested with it and the amazing skills that it takes to do this. It really blows my mind how they can have so many sounds coming out their mouth at one time.

Check out below some of my favorite beatboxers that get me moving in the mornings before work.

The Future is Free

Entertainment needs to change. The industry must get with the times or die off, it’s as simple as that, and the future of entertainment is free. Thats right, it’s free. It’s not a new concept, it’s just the methods of distribution that differ, but the industry seems reluctant to let go of a model, that is old and in desperate need of revision. For years we have been consuming our entertainment for free. In the form of radio, and television. The laws even allow us to record that programming to review at our leisure as long as we do not make profit from it. In the age of the digital download this should be no different. The stations pay a licensing fee, and sell advertising, and that is how the show and music was paid for. The ad revenue is determined through audience share. The bigger the audience of a particular program, the higher the cost to put an ad on during that programming.

The Best Venues Are In BC!

There is something about venues in BC!

I don’t know what it is but they are the friendliest anywhere else in the world. Here are a few examples why.

On Friday, January 22, 2010 the Cultural Olympiad kicked off at the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver.

The 2009 Sasquatch Festival is a prime example of what the power of one can really do.

Baby Brown Eyes, You stole my heart. I had to write a song…and I can’t believe what happened next.

Well summer is now over and what a summer I have had.
You can read about some of my adventures here. But during my summer I did one thing that I am very proud of, wrote a song for my girl. It was nothing much but words on a page when a good friend of mine Mark Ferriby from The Get Down, started to read it and thought that I had something there. We played around with it for a bit till we got the right melody and then adjusted the …

Vancouver Jazz Festival
What a week we all have had!
Let’s see, umm there was Canada Day, the Vancouver Jazz Festival and the unfortunate announcement of the passing of Michael Jackson. I know that there has been a huge amount of publicity on MJ and in no way am I trying to ride the wave of his passing, but more of a way to pay respects to a legend, an icon and a family man who has left 3 beautiful children behind.
The passing of Michael Jackson was a day that none of …

Car Free Day In Vancouver

Car Free Day in Vancouver is one of the better festivals to attend and support. This year it was on June 14 2009 at 5 locations in Vancouver. Like every year it was a lot of fun and a great turnout. There is something for everyone to take home with them; I bought a Pan Flute for myself.
Just walking down the streets, as far as the eye could see were all these different venues/organizations/stores with thousands of people walking, dancing and enjoying the smells of a car free zone. I …

A Moment In Music

Often times I will sit there listening to music, thinking about what it means, what it means to me and what the artist’s message is. So many times I concern myself on what it means to me then to ever wonder what it might mean to someone else. Let me give you an example.

The Movement of Music

Music is a movement that is heard throughout the world.
A freedom of speech that can’t be silenced. With every generation in every type of culture you will find music. Today the power of music is so strong that company’s are branding their name with a catchy tune or jingle.
Music is so powerful that it is often used to time travel. We use music to remember a loved one or even a prior friendship or relationship. As a time machine, music enables us to never forget. Countless times when a familiar …

Ok all of you, the 10th Anniversary Party for Citr was just over a week ago and there is still a buzz going around about it. I still can’t believe that Mario Ayala from the Aching Heart Foundation threw his guitar off a 5 foot stage, I wish that I could have seen my face, lol. You never know, maybe when the live music video comes out on I just might be able to see it, heck maybe it will be your face that I see. Whatever it is it …
