Serena Ryder to Headline 2013 SHOREfest

9 June 2013 2 Comments

Free live music and explosive fireworks heat up Vancouver’s summer.

Summer’s just around the corner, and SHORE 104.3 FM is fired up to announce the return of SHOREfest at the Honda Celebration of Light. Once again, this free concert series of outstanding Canadian bands will run before the fireworks, on stages at Sunset Beach and English Bay – with Canadian favourite Serena Ryder headlining opening night.

“Honda Celebration of Light and SHOREfest has become a centrepiece of Vancouver’s summer culture,” says Sherri Pierce, General Manager Shore 104. “SHOREfest is a great way to showcase breakthrough Canadian talent like Serena Ryder to Vancouverites and visitors alike.”

Serena is a four-time JUNO Award winner who’s riding a wave of success with her new album “Harmony” and multi-format platinum hit “Stompa.” Recording in her own home studio gave Serena a chance to experiment with “Harmony,” introducing more styles and influences to create a new sound that captures her unique essence as an artist.

With more musical acts to be announced in the days and weeks to come, tourists and locals alike are invited to come down early to English Bay and enjoy some incredible Canadian music talent. After enjoying some savvy summer tunes fans will be treated to the world’s largest offshore international fireworks competition, this year featuring displays from the United Kingdom, Canada and Thailand.

Additionally, each night beginning at 10pm, the accompanying fireworks soundtrack will be simulcast live, exclusively on SHORE 104 at 104.3 FM, on our iPhone app or online at

SHOREfest is made possible in part by the Canadian Content Development Fund (CCD), an initiative by Canada’s broadcasters to help develop and promote Canadian musical talent.

Local, emerging talent has also been finding success through Shore 104’s BEST of BC Contest, also funded through the CCD program – recently Greg Drummond and his band was awarded the top prize of $10,000 as well as solid radio play and will be featured on this year’s Rogue Stage at SHOREfest.
