umbers seem to confirm that Arcade Fire is the most popular Canadian INDIE band in the world, the most popular Canadian “artist” would probably be Celine Dion but we will not go into that swampy territory. Arcade Fire have been filling stadiums and playing all kind of festivals around the world. The band is based in Montreal, Quebec and was formed by a couple, Win Butler and Regine Chassagne who are now husband and wife. The earliest Montreal-based incarnation of the Arcade Fire began performing in the summer/fall of 2001, almost entirely in lofts and art galleries.
then some writers started comparisons with U2.

Vancouver boys, glowing in the funk and taking it to the people, let the funk surround you, get up and be Unified!
West coast summer vibe is how The Unified became…unified. Groovin’ beach jams, rockin house party’s, and fly by the seat of your pants improvin’ has brought together the 6 musicians that make up the Unified, and has helped mold their funky/reggae/rootsy sound.

Tobacco Brown is travelling the world in search of fast women and loose cars. After teaching himself guitar at the age of twelve and deciding sometime after his nineteeth birthday that he might like to give music an honest shot-Mr. Brown has been writing and performing almost non-stop. He currently has three albums written (one recorded with the help of Edouard at Sinewavz studios) and numerous crosses to bear. That being said, he is not one to go on about it. He loves art, music and film. One day he would like to write and direct his own movie and hopefully provide the soundtrack. Born in Vancouver and raised in London, Mr.Brown currently resides no where but spends most of his time going back and forth across the Atlantic Ocean (the only place he truly fits in). He has permanent ‘couch spine’ and is constantly embarrasing himself. His style has been described as ‘Jack Johnson on anti-depressants’ but if you ask him, he’ll tell you he’s more like himself mixed with everybody and no body.

Magnus Rising started with an ad in a local university newspaper seeking a few guys to play heavy metal tunes together. Aaron, Matt, and Roger liked what they heard after the first of many midnight rehearsals, and they have been writing and performing together ever since. Nick James, an aspiring session drummer at the age of 18, joined the band in mid 2008, and has since brought to the band a style of his own. Creating something altogether new to all of them, vocalist Aaron Hawkins, bassist Matt Snow, guitarist Roger Cranford, and drummer Nick James set out to play the greatest stages the world has to offer. Early in their musical career, huge strives were made. After overcoming the loss of thier jam space and most of their equipment, Magnus Rising set their sights on their first studio recording.
But why is it so hard to find great places for Vancouver’s next generation of upcoming Indie Music stars to show case their talent?
There is a buzz as of late revolving around Vancouver’s Music Venue scene. Many times over are the cries heard of Vancouver’s growing reputation as being the No Fun City.
A documentary you really should check out. The NFC crew mention on their site: “Although the provincial government has labeled B.C. “the Best Place on Earth”the phrase “no fun city” appears on the Internet more often with the …
It has become difficult to sincerely fall in love with an artist. Different sounds invoke different feelings and responses.
We are often forced to listen to one type of sound to capture one type of emotion. Please lend your ear to the sounds of Chris Assaad. ; never forcing you to compromise. Chris’s songs capture the essence of struggle, celebrate the bliss of pure happiness, and recognize the duality of life and love. With a sound which can be uplifting and saddening, up-tempo and lazy, the music lover no longer has to search for music that captures their emotion when the full range is on a Chris Assaad B-side.

“Pierce’s songs are likely to appeal to a wide audience, sounding as if written at an intersection between a Sheryl Crow greatest hits record and the melodic melancholy of Aimee Mann.” Aarik Danielsen, Popmatters. I am a singer-songwriter from Horseshoe Bay, B.C. in Canada. Several of my songs have been heard in major television shows such as Grey’s Anatomy, Veronica Mars, The Hills, Dirt, Army Wives, The L Word, Greek etc. I have played …

Well, the last 16 years have been a crazy journey, and the last 7 have been quit a trip, albeit one with the odd interruption. Atila is Hungarian. His cousin, Robert, hails from just across the Serbian border. Their disagreements are the stuff of legend. And high comedy. Unless you’re in the same room. Ok, then they’re even more hilarious.
